CHAPTER 30

Avid Games' award-winning educational game CUE has released an update today that introduces a host of festive-themed cards. This looks to celebrate holiday traditions across the globe such as The Catalonian Poo Log and La Noche de Los Rabános (The Night of Radishes) among many others.

It'll be a great way for children and even adults to learn about the different ways other countries celebrate the festive season in unique and interesting ways. For example, in Norway Christmas Eve is believed to bring spirits and witches, so Norwegians will hide their brooms so they don't get stolen.
Startup Panic review - "Starting your own business, with required Holiday time.
Discussing the update, Paul Mayze, Managing Director, Avid Games, said: “In the UK, we think of things like mulled wine, mince pies, turkey and presents around Christmas time - which is bizarre enough when you stop to think about it - but across the globe, many countries follow festive customs that are even stranger.”

He added: “Our latest Festive Traditions card pack features over a dozen wonderful Christmas-related curiosities, designed to remind us how utterly fascinating the world is - but they also play a role in the game, with each card having unique abilities to give you the edge during battle.”
Million Dungeon review - "Too cute to care about what's happening"
If you're unfamiliar with CUE Cards, it's a card-collecting and battling game that also aims to educate as you play. Since it's a card battler, you'll often find yourself pitting some bizarre combinations against one another such as a Velociraptor facing off against String Theory.

CUE Cards is available now over on the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
Looking for some digital board games to play on your phone?
There's an embarrassment of riches on the App Store when it comes to licensed Games Workshop games. But that doesn't mean that there isn't space for another one. Which is good, because I saw two today.

One of them is The Horus Heresy Legions. It's a card game that owes a decent amount to Hearthstone. But it's more than that. Built from the ground up as a mobile game, it's sharper, its play time is shorter, and there's a ferocity to it that fits in with its grim dark grim grim dark future setting.

I only got to play it for a few minutes, but that was enough to get a feel for it. It's a deck-builder, with characters lifted from the Horus Heresy books. If you're not familiar with those, a really bad thing happens and everything gets more awful. There's more to it than that, but it doesn't really matter.
Legions of doom
The game would work if it didn't have the GW branding, but it adds a thuggish stomp to play. There are space marines, there are chaos space marines. There's a lot of fighting. A campaign walks you through some of the battles that made up the conflict. Then there's online play.

That's where the meat of the game is. You can join clans, called Lodges here, and there are events that let you change the content that the game is going to receive. If one side comes at the top of an event leaderboard, then different cards and decks will be available than if the other wins.

There's a lot of good ideas here, and the game gets the feel of the grungy spaceships and war torn planets just right. There's a hefty blob of stragtegy too, with plenty of different cards and potential deck combinations to play with.
Killing time
Legions feels like a game that gets both the platform it's being built for, and the people who are going to be playing it. The addition of GW's rich lore is just the icing on the cake. Even if you're not a fan, the card chucking underneath everything is good enough that it's unlikely it's going to matter.

There are plenty of Games Workshop games on the App Store. But this one feels like it's going to more than earn its place among them.
Android手機遊戲下載
Sunnyside Games has released the 1.1 update for its Silver Award-winning twitchy stock market game The Firm.

First off, this update removes IAPs from the game "as they were not what we wanted to do initially with The Firm," explains Sunnyside.

Secondly, there's a tonne of additions to spruce the game up. New cards add variation to your frantic paper sorting job. They introduce a new mechanic, too: you're required to tap to tick boxes and then swipe up or down to file them.

There's also a new ranking system that sees you levelling up across all your plays. It'll probably keep you playing for longer, especially as you get new bonuses every time you're promoted.

There's also a new interface, music and sounds, and options (including colour blind mode, and a happy ending). Plus, a pause function lets you take a break, but you do take a penalty for this.
&#;
